Our History

A unit of Gandhi Vidya Mandir, since 2010

Basic Public School (BPS) opened its doors for its maiden session in 2010–11, under the aegis of the Gandhi Vidya Mandir Society, Sardarshahar — an institution with more than six decades of standing, working in a region where English-medium education had yet to spread.

Gandhi Vidya Mandir was founded by Shri Kanhaiyalal Dugar, who after embracing sanyas came to be known as Swami Shri Ramsharanji — a man of vision, dedication and an embodiment of universal humanism. Since its inception, the school has embarked on the mission of creating individuals who are confident about their potential, diligent and focused towards their goals, and sensitive to their environment.

Today BPS is spread over 10 acres, offset by sprawling green lawns and spacious classrooms — an ambience conducive to intellectual pursuit and holistic development, equipping every pupil to discover in themselves a doctor, an engineer, a teacher, a social activist, a sportsperson or an artist.

Maiden session begins

Basic Public School opens under the Gandhi Vidya Mandir Society, Sardarshahar, on a 10-acre campus.

2013

Growing campus

Computer lab, English language lab and a well-stocked library established for the growing school.

2016

CBSE affiliation & senior secondary

CBSE affiliation secured; Science, Commerce and Arts streams introduced for Classes XI–XII.

2020

Sports complex & auditorium

Dedicated sports complex with tennis courts and indoor hall; multipurpose auditorium seating 5,000.

2026

Today

1,200+ students, 60+ faculty, 98%+ board results and a thriving alumni family.

Dear parents and well-wishers,

My father founded this school with one dream — that no child of Sardarshahar should have to leave home for a quality education. Twenty-eight years later, that dream lives in every classroom of this campus. We continue to invest in our teachers, our laboratories and our playgrounds, because a school is not its buildings — it is the opportunities it creates.
